"Islam, Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin"

Reality is very true that Islam is a religion that rahmatan lil 'alamin. But many people distort this statement to the insights misguided. Giving rise to many mistakes in the practice of religion even in a very fundamental, namely the issue of aqeedah.
The claim that Islam is a religion that rahmatan lil 'alamin is actually the conclusion of the word of Allah, the Exalted,

"وما أرسلناك إلا رحمة للعالمين"

"We have not sent thee, O Muhammad, but as a mercy to all mankind" (Surat al-Anbiya: 107)
Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, was sent to bring the teachings of Islam, then Islam adalahrahmatan lil'alamin, Islam is a mercy for all mankind.
In language,

grace means softness combined with compassion (See Lisaanul Arab, Ibn Mandzur). Or in other words can be interpreted by the grace of love. So, the coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, is a form of love of God to all mankind.
Experts Interpretation Interpretation
1. Ibn Qayyim Al Jauziyyah in Tafsir Ibn al-Qayyim:
"The opinion is more correct in interpreting this verse is that grace here is general. In this issue, there are two interpretations:
First: The universe in general benefit from the coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
People who follow him, can achieve glory in the world and the hereafter as well.
Unbelievers who fight against him, the benefits they get are disegerakannya murder and death for them, it's better for them. Because their lives will only increase the pain adzab in the Hereafter. Destruction has been set for them. Thus, accelerated death is more beneficial to them than settling down in disbelief.
Unbelievers who are bound by his agreement, the benefit for them is allowed to live in this world in the protection and agreements. They're a little ugliness is more than the unbelievers who fight the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam.
Hypocrites, who appeared in Zahir faith alone, they benefit the preservation of blood, treasure, and honor their families. They are treated as other Muslims in inheritance laws and other laws.
And the human race after he was sent, God Almighty does not give a thorough adzab of mankind on earth. In conclusion, all men benefit from the coming of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam.
Secondly: Islam is a mercy for every human being, but the faithful to receive this grace and benefit of the world and the Hereafter. While unbelievers reject it. So for the kuffaar, Islam remains said to be a mercy to them, but they are reluctant to accept. As if to say 'This is medicine for the sick so and so'. Suppose that so and so did not drink it, the drug is still said to be the drug "
2. Mohammed bin Ali Al Syaukani in Fathul Qadir:
"The meaning of this verse is 'Not We sent thee, O Muhammad, to bring Sharia law, but as a mercy for all human beings without any special circumstances or reasons for the exception'. In other words, 'the only reason we sent you, O Muhammad, is as vast mercy. Because we sent you to bring something that the cause of happiness in the hereafter '"
3. Muhammad ibn Jarir Tabari in Tafsir Tabari:
"The commentators disagree about the meaning of this verse, about whether all people are referred to in this paragraph are all good believers and unbelievers human? Or just a believer man alone? Some commentators argue, the question is the whole man both believers and unbelievers. Their underlying with a history of Ibn Abbas radhiallahu'anhu in interpreting this verse:
من آمن بالله واليوم الآخر كتب له الرحمة في الدنيا والآخرة, ومن لم يؤمن بالله ورسوله عوفي مما أصاب الأمم من الخسف والقذف
"Anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day, set for her grace in the world and the hereafter. But anyone who does not believe in Allah and His Messenger, is a form of blessing for those overwritten with no previous calamities that befall people, as they all drowned or in terpa in big waves "
in the history of others:
تمت الرحمة لمن آمن به في الدنيا والآخرة, ومن لم يؤمن به عوفي مما أصاب الأمم قبل
"Grace is perfect in this world and the hereafter for those who believe in Allah. As for those who are reluctant to believe, the form of grace for them is not overwritten by the calamities that befall the people of the previous "
Opinion of other commentators who say that what is meant is people believe it. They bring a history of Ibn Zaid in interpreting this verse:
فهو لهؤلاء فتنة ولهؤلاء رحمة, وقد جاء الأمر مجملا رحمة للعالمين. والعالمون هاهنا: من آمن به وصدقه وأطاعه
"With the coming of the Messenger of Allah, there is a man who got the disaster, some have mercy, although the form of mentions in this verse is general in nature, ie as a mercy to all mankind. The whole man is referred to here are those who believe in Allah, justify it and stick "
Correct opinion of these two opinions are those of the first, as the history of Ibn Abbas. That God sent the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam as a mercy to all people, both believers and unbelievers. Mercy for believers that God gave him instructions for the coming of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. He sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam incorporate believers into heaven by faith and deeds are against the teachings of God. While mercy for infidels, not a disaster that befell disegerakannya peoples who deny the teachings of God's earlier "(translated in brief).
4. Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Qurtubi in the Tafsir al Qurtubi
"Said bin Jubair said: from Ibn Abbas, he said:
كان محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم رحمة لجميع الناس فمن آمن به وصدق به سعد, ومن لم يؤمن به سلم مما لحق الأمم من الخسف والغرق
"Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam is a mercy to all mankind. For those who believe and justify his teachings, will have happiness. For those who do not believe in him, rescued from the disaster that befell the people of the previous form of sunk into the earth or submerged in water "
Ibn Zaid said:
"The term 'whole man' in this verse are the only people who believe" '
5. Ash Shabuni in Shafwatut Tafasir
"The purpose of this paragraph is 'Not We sent thee, O Muhammad, but as a mercy for all creatures'. As in a hadith:
إنما أنا رحمة مهداة
"I am a gift of grace (by God)" (Narrated by al-Bukhari in Al 'Al Kabir Ilal 369, Al Bayhaqi in Syu'abul Faith 2 / 596. Hadith in his Saheeh Al-Albani in Genealogy Saheehah Ash, 490, also in Saheeh Al-Jami ', 2345)
People who receive this grace and grateful for this favor, he will find happiness in the world and the hereafter.
Allah Ta'ala did not say 'rahmatan lilmu'minin', but said 'rahmatan lil' alamin 'because AllahTa'ala want to give mercy to all creatures with the coming of the leader of the Prophets, Muhammad sallallaahu' alayhi wa sallam. He was sent to bring great happiness. He also saves people from the great tribulation. He becomes the achievement of various good causes in the world and the hereafter. He gave enlightenment to people who previously were in ignorance. He gives guidance to the human family who had previously been referred to in kesesatan.Inilah grace of God to all mankind. Even unbelievers have benefited from this grace, which postponed the punishment for them. In addition, they were no longer overwritten transformed into an animal form of punishment, or sunk into the earth, or sunk in the water "
Misguided understanding
Problems arise when people interpret this verse is haphazard, capitalized, language understanding and logic are shallow. Or try to impose meaning of the verse to suit his desires. Understanding of which are:
1. Compassionate with the heathen
Some people ask to be filial to the heathen, not to hate them, following their events, are reluctant to call them infidels, or even advocated that all religions are equal and true, with postulated by verse:
وما أرسلناك إلا رحمة للعالمين
"We have not sent thee, O Muhammad, but as a mercy for the universe" (Surat al-Anbiya: 107)
Though this is not the interpretation of this verse. Allah Ta'ala make Islam as a mercy to all mankind, but the form of mercy for infidels is not to be filial to them. Even been described by commentators, that the form of grace for them is not overwritten with great calamity that befell the previous race. This is the form of God's compassion towards the disbelievers, the explanation of Ibn Abbas Radhiallahu'anhu friend.
Even the consequences of belief in Allah and His Messenger is hated all forms of worship to other than Allah, hates the forms of opposition to the teachings RasulullahShallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam, and hate those who do. As word of AllahTa'ala:
لا تجد قوما يؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر يوادون من حاد الله ورسوله ولو كانوا آباءهم أو أبناءهم أو إخوانهم أو عشيرتهم
"You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Hereafter, filial each other with those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers, or children or their brothers or their families "(Surat al-Mujadalah: 22)
Note however, must hate not mean to kill, injure, or harm people disbelieve that we met. As explained by Ibn al-Qayyim in his interpretation of the above, that there are infidels who must be fought, some are not be harmed.
Making the verse 107 of Surat al-Anbiya as a postulate of religious pluralism is also a distorted understanding. Because the verses of the Qur'an can not be contradictory. Is not Allah himself who said:
إن الدين عند الله الإسلام
"Religion is blessed by Allah is Islam" (Surat al-Imran: 19)
Also the word of Allah, the Exalted:
ومن يبتغ غير الإسلام دينا فلن يقبل منه وهو في الآخرة من الخاسرين
"Anyone looking for a religion other than Islam, it occasionally will not be accepted (the religion) thereof, and in the Hereafter he is among those who lose" (Surat al-Imran: 85)
The person who brings the issue of pluralism may interpret the 'Islamic' in these verses to 'surrender'. So all religions are true as long as it submits to God, they said. Suffice it to charge them with words of gibberish Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam:
الإسلام أن تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله وتقيم الصلاة وتؤتي الزكاة وتصوم رمضان وتحج البيت إن استطعت إليه سبيلا
"Islam is the real you testify that there is no god who has the right to be worshiped but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of God, you establish the prayer, issued alms, fasting during Ramadan and the pilgrimage to the House to do if you are able to do" (Narrated by Muslim, no.8 )
Precisely verse 107 of Surat al-Anbiya this adlalah crushing rebuttal to religious pluralism. Because this verse is the proposition that all men on earth shall be converted to Islam. Because Islam is 'lil alamin', for the entire human race on earth. Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, as described above: "Islam is a mercy for every human being, but the faithful to receive this grace and benefit of the world and the Hereafter. While rejecting the unbelievers ".
2. Compassionate in munkar
Most of the Muslims to let the people leave prayers, let the rampant prostitution, allowing women to open their private parts in public even allow practices idolatry and reluctant to advise them for fear of the perpetrators of immoral offended if advised her, then said: "Islam khan lil rahmatan 'alamin, full of love ". It is strange.
Though this is not the interpretation of verse 107 of Surat al-Anbiya this. Islam as the grace of God is not merciful to the perpetrator meaningful munkar and let them in kemungkarannya. Described as represented Tabari in his commentary on the above, "Mercy for believers that God gave him instructions for the coming of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. BeliauShallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam incorporate believers into heaven by faith and deeds are against the teachings of God ".
Then the form of love of God towards believers is to give them instructions to carry out God's commandments perinta and away from what is forbidden by God, so that they reach Jannah. In other words, if we also feel the love and affection to our brothers who do immoral, we should advise him and he did deny immorality and direct it to do good deeds.
And the attitude of mercy was needed in denying immoral. Duly put immoral denial of tenderness and affection, rather than put the rough and tough attitude. Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:
إن الرفق لا يكون في شيء إلا زانه. ولا ينزع من شيء إلا شانه
"It is not that there is gentleness in anything, except to decorate it. It is no tenderness is gone from something, but will it worse "(Narrated by Muslim, no. 2594)
3. Compassionate in religious aberrations
Adalagi who use this verse to legalize various forms of heresy, polytheism and superstition. Because they assume the forms of such deviations are differences of opinion should be tolerated so that they also say: "Leave us with our understanding, do not harass us, is not Islam rahmatan lil'alamin". It is strange.
Interpreting the grace in verse 107 of Surat al-Anbiya with compassion and tolerance towards all existing understandings on the Muslims, is the interpretation that very much. No commentators who interpret so.
The split body Ummah into various groups is the fact, and was warned long ago by the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam. And people who say all this class is right and everything can be tolerated no different from people who say all religions are the same. Among the various classes of course there are right and nothing wrong. And we must follow the correct, ie in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. Even Ibn al-Qayyim says about grace in verse 107 of Surat al-Anbiya: "Those who follow him, can achieve glory in the world and the hereafter as well". That is, Islam is a form of love of God to those who follow the correct class is willing to follow the teachings of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam.
The expression 'let us with our understanding, do not disturb us' applies only to the heathen. As stated in the letter Al Kaafirun:
قل يا أيها الكافرون لا أعبد ما تعبدون ولا أنتم عابدون ما أعبد ولا أنا عابد ما عبدتم ولا أنتم عابدون ما أعبد لكم دينكم ولي دين
"Say: 'O unbelievers, I will not worship what you worship. And you're not a worshiper of God that I worship. And I was never a worship what you worship. and you do not have (also) be a worshiper of God that I worship. For you your religion, and to me, my religion '"
While the fellow Muslims, not to be so. Even when obliged to advise his brother fall into error. Which was duly advised roomy taking advice. Are not believers that edify each other in goodness?
"For the sake of time. Behold, the man really in loss, Except those who believe and do righteous deeds and counsel advised to obey the truth, and advised counsel patience in order to fulfill "(Surah Al 'Ashr: 1-3)
And advise those who do deviate in religion is a form of affection to the person. Even people who knew his brother fell into the irregularities of religion but the silence, he got a sin. As the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam:
إذا عملت الخطيئة في الأرض كان من شهدها فكرهها كمن غاب عنها. ومن غاب عنها فرضيها, كان كمن شهدها
"If you know of an error (in religion) happens on the earth, people who see the direct and deny it, he just like people who do not see directly (not sin). People who do not see directly, but the pleasure of the error, he is just like people who look straight (get sin) "(Narrated by Abu Daud no.4345, dihasankan Al-Albani in Saheeh Sunan Abi Daud)
Disagreement can not be beaten even mean that all opinions be tolerated. Do we tolerate some Sufis who argue that the five daily prayers are not mandatory for people who reach a certain level? Or some people who think prayer kejawen important 'remember God' without having to perform the prayer? Do we tolerate opinions that say that Ahmadiyya did not have to go to Mecca for Haj? It can not be tolerated. If all people's opinions can be tolerated, Destroyed this religion. But those opinions are based on the proposition saheeh, argues the correct way, using the rule of the clerics, only then can we tolerate.
4. Underestimate the problems aqidah
By using this verse, some people underestimate and are reluctant to preach the correct aqeedah. Because they assume will only preach aqeedah divide the ummah and resentment that is not in accordance with the principle that Islam is rahmatan lil 'alamin.
Meditate on the words of Ash Shabuni in interpreting rahmatan lil 'alamin: "He sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam gave enlightenment to men who had previously been in ignorance. He gives guidance to the human family who had previously been in error. This is what God's grace to all men ". Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam a mercy to all mankind because he brought the teachings of monotheism. Since humans in the period before he was sent in error in the form of worship of gods other than Allah, even though they worship to God as well. And this is the core teaching of the Apostles. As word of Allah, the Exalted:
ولقد بعثنا في كل أمة رسولا أن اعبدوا الله واجتنبوا الطاغوت
"And really we have sent messengers to every nation (to call): 'Worship God alone, and shun Evil'" (Surah An Nahl: 36)
Besides, is not this aqeedah issue that can determine the fate of a person whether he will be eternally in hell or not? Allah Ta'ala says:
"Those who ascribe (something to) Allah, then surely Allah forbid him Paradise, and the place is hell, is not there for people wrong at a helper" (Surat al-Maidah: 72)
Therefore, there is a greater urgency of this problem?
In conclusion, it is preaching monotheism, calls to the correct beraqidah is a mercy from Allah Ta'ala. Because preaching monotheism brought by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam adalahrahmat God, then how could the cause disunity ummah? Precisely kesyirikanlah actual cause disunity ummah. As word of Allah, the Exalted:
ولا تكونوا من المشركين من الذين فرقوا دينهم وكانوا شيعا كل حزب بما لديهم فرحون
"Do not include those who ascribe God, namely those who divide their religion and they become some classes. Each group feels proud of what's in their classes "(Surat ar-Rum: 31-32)
Understanding of the Right
Based on the interpretation of the scholars who trusted commentators, some of the benefits we can take from this verse is:
1. In utusnya Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam as the Apostle of Allah is a form of love of God to all mankind.
2. All humans on earth are required to Islam.
3. Shari'a laws and rules in Islam is a mercy of Allah Ta'ala to His creatures.
4. All humans have benefited by the coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam
5. Only perfect grace obtained by those who believe in the teachings brought by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam
6. All humans have benefited by the coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
7. People who believe in the teachings brought by Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, confirmed he and obedient to him, will find happiness in the world and the hereafter.
8. Islam fighting infidels who also received grace with the coming of the Prophet MuhammadShallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam, with mandatory war against them. Because life on earth much longer they will only increase the pain of hellfire in the hereafter.
9. Unbelievers who are bound by the covenant of grace with musliminjuga got coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam. Namely the prohibition of the killing and seizing their property.
10. In general, the disbelievers got grace with the coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, be avoided from adzab that struck earlier peoples who oppose God. So after the coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, there will be no infidels are punished in a way entirely drowned or buried in the earth entirely or converted into an animal entirely.
11. Hypocrites who claim to believe in verbal, but reneges on the heart also gets rahmatdengan coming of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam. They get the benefits of preservation of blood, treasure, and honor their families. They are treated as other Muslims in inheritance laws and other laws. But in the Hereafter Allah will put them at the bottom of Hell Jahannam.
12. Sending of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam a blessing because he has given enlightenment to mankind who initially in ignorance and give guidance to people who initially were in error in the form of worship to other than Allah.
13. Some scholars argue, grace in this verse is given also to the heathen, but they refused. So that only those believers who get it.
14. Some scholars argue, grace in this verse is given only believers.
15. May Allah the Exalted bestow His mercy is always to all of us, who because of His grace we are gathered in His Jannah.
